Project Intro
AwesomeBooks was founded with a passion for books and a mission to reduce waste by giving books a second life. By collecting pre-loved books that might otherwise be discarded, AwesomeBooks makes them available to readers worldwide while also donating books to literacy programs and charitable initiatives.
Championing circular economy retailing, AwesomeBooks combines sustainable online book selling with a commitment to environmental responsibility and literacy. Every purchase helps support sustainability efforts and promote reading, allowing customers to make a positive impact with every book they buy.
Description
AwesomeBooks, with a catalog of over 9 million books, represents the largest and most complex project handled by Commerce9 to date. We successfully completed a full platform migration from ASP.NET to Laravel, along with a large-scale database migration, overcoming the challenges of managing and optimizing a massive data set. A custom-designed theme was also built to align with AwesomeBooks’ brand and mission.
The website underwent a complete redesign, addressing all user experience and performance issues, which resulted in an almost tenfold increase in conversion rates. To further enhance performance, we implemented a Content Delivery Network (CDN) and migrated the infrastructure to a scalable multi-server AWS architecture, ensuring speed, reliability, and future growth.
This project was especially meaningful as it enabled AwesomeBooks to expand their global reach while supporting sustainability and literacy initiatives, helping bring their social impact vision to life through a high-performing digital platform.
Development Case Study
Commerce9 undertook a complete website redesign, addressing all user-facing issues and improving the site’s usability. The migration process involved careful planning and execution to ensure seamless data transfer. We implemented a Content Delivery Network (CDN) to enhance site speed and moved the server setup to a multi-server architecture on AWS, boosting scalability and reliability.
