THE CHALLENGE
Running Shopify and Odoo as Two Separate Systems
Most growing e-commerce businesses run Shopify for their storefront and Odoo for operations — but without a deep, native connection, the gap between them creates constant friction:
Inventory Out of Sync
Stock levels updated in Odoo don't reflect on Shopify in time, leading to overselling and customer complaints.
Manual Double-Entry
Teams re-enter Shopify orders into Odoo manually — hours of wasted effort and constant human error risk.
Product Catalog Chaos
Updating product details, prices, or variants in two places means inconsistencies and slow time-to-market.
No Single Source of Truth
Reporting is fragmented — sales data in Shopify, fulfilment in Odoo, finance scattered across spreadsheets.
The Commerce9 Solution
Our Shopify × Odoo 19 Connector is a native Odoo module — not a third-party middleware or API bolt-on — built directly inside Odoo using Shopify's Admin GraphQL API. Products flow both ways. Orders arrive automatically. Inventory stays in perfect sync. Your team manages everything from Odoo's single interface.

TECHNICAL OVERVIEW
How the Connector Works
The connector is built as a modular stack of three Odoo add-ons, each adding a distinct layer of capability. This keeps the architecture clean — each module only depends on the one below it.
Module Architecture
Module
Layer
What It Does
odoo_ecommerce
Base Engine
Channel-agnostic sync framework. Manages ecommerce accounts, offers (mapped products), locations, and order orchestration. Foundation for any e-commerce channel.
ecommerce_shopify
Shopify Pull (Import)
Pulls products, orders, inventory, and images from Shopify via the Admin GraphQL API. Manages Shopify authentication (OAuth + Access Token), webhooks, and product image gallery sync.
ecommerce_shopify_upsync
Shopify Push (Export)
Pushes Odoo products, variants, images, metafields, pricing, and inventory settings to Shopify. Handles bidirectional metafield sync, market pricing, sales channel publishing.

Authentication Methods
OAuth App Flow
Secure OAuth 2.0 authorization via Shopify's app install flow. HMAC signature verification on every callback. Perfect for multi-tenant SaaS setups.
Access Token
Direct Private App / Custom App access token. Ideal for single-store deployments where the Shopify admin manages the token directly.
CORE FEATURE: PRODUCT MANAGEMENT
Complete Bidirectional Product Sync
Every product detail that matters to your storefront is synchronized — automatically and accurately — in both directions between Odoo and Shopify. No manual re-entry. No mismatched data.
What Pushes from Odoo → Shopify
- Product title, description, vendor & type
- URL handle, SEO title & SEO description
- Product tags & Shopify Standard Taxonomy category
- Published status & sales channel selection
- Product variants with SKU & barcode
- Variant price & compare-at (strikethrough) price
- Weight with automatic unit conversion
- Requires-shipping & taxable flags
- Tax code (for Avalara / TaxJar integration)
- Inventory management & out-of-stock policy
- Product images, gallery images & variant-linked images
- Image alt text & explicit display order
- Gift card heuristic mapping
- Custom metafields (including Google Shopping)
- Shopify Markets: per-market pricing & inclusion
- Fulfilment service location (3PL support)
What Pulls from Shopify → Odoo
- Full product catalog with all variants
- Product image gallery (full media, not just featured image)
- Product metafield values
- Metafield definitions (centralized, auto-applied)
- Inventory quantities per location
- Sales channel / publication list
- Shopify Product ID & handle mapping
- Inventory item IDs per variant
- Variant Shopify IDs
- Order data (via webhook)
- Customer details from orders
- Market catalog publication IDs
Smart Image Sync — No Duplicates, Ever
Our connector uses a three-stage image reconciliation algorithm: (1) match by stored Shopify Media ID, (2) fall back to SHA-256 content-hash comparison, (3) only upload if genuinely new. Images removed from Odoo are cleaned up on Shopify. Re-syncing never creates duplicate images — even after multiple push cycles.

ADVANCED CAPABILITY
Multi-Channel Publishing & Push Workflow
Most connectors push to one place. Ours pushes everywhere — Online Store, Point of Sale, marketplace apps, and any custom Shopify publication channel — all from a single Odoo action.
Sales Channel Publishing
Fetch & Mirror Channels
One-click fetch of all Shopify Publications and Market Catalogs. Stored in Odoo and available for selection per product or account-wide.
Custom Channel Selection
Set "Custom (Selected Channels)" scope and tick exactly which channels each product is published to — Online Store, POS, Facebook, Instagram, or any app.
Publish Scope Options
Choose: Publish All, Unpublish All, or Custom (Selected Channels) — flexible enough for any merchandising strategy.
Auto-Push on Mapping
When an Odoo product variant is linked to a Shopify account offer, the product is automatically pushed to Shopify — no extra step needed.
Product Push Workflow
Push New Product Wizard
guided setup from the product form or accounts screen
Bulk Push Products
one-action push of all mapped products from an account
One-Click Re-Push
instantly re-push this product's variants from the product form
Conflict Resolution
handles multiple Shopify accounts, detects conflicting mappings before pushing
Existing Product Restore
if a Shopify product was deleted and re-created, the connector finds and restores the mapping by handle or SKU
Offer Auto-Creation
variants without an offer are auto-created so they're included in the Shopify product options/variants
Push Status Tracking
per-offer status: Pending / Pushed / Error, with full error message stored
Taxonomy & Categorisation
Standard Product Taxonomy
Map any Odoo product category to Shopify's Standard Product Taxonomy GID. Products inherit the category mapping unless overridden at the template level.
Shopify Collections
Assign products to Shopify Collections (Smart or Custom). Collection GID is stored per product template and included in every push.
